Karen has lived in Lockport Township for 32 years.

She has worked as a Paralegal in advertising and intellectual property for the past 30 years and before that had worked in various areas of law and in Human Resources in law firms, as well as bookkeeping and administrative roles in banking and at a private investment firm. She has and is serving on the boards or steering committees of nonprofits and political organizations, in addition to other local volunteer work.

Karen decided to enter politics after the 2013 government shutdown and encourages and supports more “everyday citizens” in doing the same. She was appointed as a Precinct Committeeperson in 2016, elected as Lockport Township Collector in 2017, Lockport Township Trustee in 2021. Karen is proud of the work the township has done for its residents since she has been involved and has learned a lot about political dynamics and interaction between government agencies in order to get the right things done at minimal cost to taxpayers. Karen appreciates your support of her service to the community and your vote for Lockport Township Trustee in the April 1, 2025 election.

She became a foster mother to help at least one teenager in 2012 and fostered three teens between 2012 and 2017. Karen has two living brothers, 6 nieces and nephews and 13 great nieces and nephews. She has been adopting adult dogs from shelters for several years. Karen holds an M.A. in Organizational Leadership from Lewis University, a B.A. in Human Resources Management from DePaul University, a graduate level Certificate in Paralegal Studies from Roosevelt University as well as coursework in Nonprofit Governance at North Park University. She has attended classes or trainings and educated herself on the roles she serves in as well as conflict resolution, restorative justice practices, being a political candidate (Wellstone Action), meditation, Healing Touch for Animals and leadership and communication through Toastmasters International, serving in Chicagoland district leadership in several roles from 2009 through 2012.
