Vote for Latoya Turner for Lockport Township Collector

My name is Latoya Turner, I was born in Chicago, I was raised by my mother and am the second born of six. I have three brothers and two sisters. I reside in Will County with my four beautiful children. Growing up I was always different. My paths and choices seemed to vary from my peers. My path led me to the discovery of unfair and biased rules and individuals. These situations helped to put me into the mindset of helping others and creating change in the world. Also, I have encountered life events and people in abusive situations that has built me into the strong woman I am today.

The powerful desire to help others repair and understand themselves, emotionally, physically, and mentally, led me to create my organization, “Empowered Champions.” Through EC, I organized and created workshops and events directed toward youth and adults. Serving the community through food drives, donations, and service. Everything I did through EC was designed to bring the community together, challenge people to examine their life path and choices. The goal is to help others to start the process of becoming the best version of themselves.

Through that process, I was led to return to school to become paralegal, to address the misjustice of people wrongfully incarcerated. Collaborating with community leaders, political leaders, and business leaders in the Romeoville area pushes me to invest more time and effort into ensuring a more productive and beneficial future for all the residents.
